Books your accountant
can actually trust.
RepBud Revenue is a real double-entry ledger you can give your accountant view-only access to — with an audit trail showing who changed what, control-account reconciliation, a trial balance and general ledger they can export, and the year-end working papers they expect.

What your accountant gets
Most small-business apps ask an accountant to trust numbers they can't verify. RepBud Revenue is the opposite. Underneath the friendly interface is a genuine double-entry ledger: the trial balance ties by construction, each report drills down to the transactions behind it, and the whole thing is theirs to inspect read-only.
They can see who changed what and when, prove the control accounts agree with the sub-ledgers, and lift a trial balance, general ledger or journal report straight out to CSV. When a period is filed, the lock is enforced by the database itself, not only the interface.
And it's honest about its edges: it prepares VAT, Corporation Tax and Self Assessment figures, but the statutory filing to HMRC is still your accountant's to make. We'd rather say that plainly than pretend otherwise.
How RepBud helps
The things an accountant checks first
View-only client access
Invite your accountant by email as a read-only user, scoped to a single company. They see the ledger, each report and the audit trail, and can't change a thing. Your other entities stay private.
Audit trail — who changed what
Written by the database, so it can't be edited from the app. Each create, edit and delete with the person, the timestamp and a before-and-after on edits. Filter by person, type or date; export to CSV.
Control-account reconciliation
Proves the general-ledger Accounts Receivable and Payable equal the sum of open invoices and bills, and flags any variance — the first check an accountant makes, done for them.
A ledger they can trust
Real double-entry: the trial balance ties by construction, each figure drills down, and manual journals validate debit-equals-credit with an auto-reverse for accruals and prepayments.
Period lock, at the database
Lock a filed period so it can't be silently reopened. The lock is enforced by the database itself, not the interface, so no one can click past it.
Working papers, exportable
Trial balance, general ledger, journal report and aged receivables/payables — CSV or Excel, any date range. Everything your accountant asks for at year end, ready to hand over.
Tax, prepared
MTD-ready VAT records and a prepared return, a Corporation Tax computation with marginal relief and capital allowances, an SA302 tax calculation, and dividend vouchers for a director's Self Assessment.
Bring the books across
A guided importer moves your chart of accounts, contacts and opening balances from Xero, QuickBooks or Sage, so switching doesn't mean starting from a blank set of books.
Frequently Asked Questions
What accountants ask
How do I give my accountant access to my books?+
In Revenue, open Settings and invite your accountant by email as a view-only user. They sign in and see that one company's books read-only — the ledger, each report, and the audit trail — without being able to change anything. Their access is scoped to the single company you invited them to, so your other entities stay private.
Is this a real double-entry ledger, or a simplified app?+
A real double-entry ledger. Each invoice, bill, payment and expense is expanded into balanced journal entries, so the trial balance ties by construction and each figure on each report drills down to the transactions behind it. There are manual journals with live debit-equals-credit validation, an auto-reverse option for accruals and prepayments, and a general ledger your accountant can read directly.
Can my accountant see who changed what?+
Yes. The audit trail is written by the database itself, so it can't be edited or removed from the app. It records each create, edit and delete on the financial tables — showing who made the change and when, with a field-level before-and-after on edits — and it can be filtered by person, type and date and exported to CSV.
Does it prove the control accounts agree with the sub-ledgers?+
Yes — the Control Account Reconciliation report compares the general-ledger balance of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable against the sum of open invoices and bills, and flags any difference. If someone posts a manual journal straight to a control account, the app warns them at the time and the report shows the variance.
What can I hand over at year end?+
A trial balance, general ledger, journal report and aged receivables/payables — each exportable to CSV or Excel for any date range. There is a period lock, enforced at the database level, so a filed period can't be quietly reopened. Together these give your accountant the working papers they expect.
Does it handle Corporation Tax, VAT and Self Assessment?+
Revenue keeps MTD-ready digital VAT records and prepares the VAT return; it produces a Corporation Tax computation (two-rate with marginal relief and capital allowances); and it generates an SA302-style tax calculation and dividend vouchers for a director's Self Assessment. Please note: these prepare the figures — the actual filing to HMRC of RTI payroll, and of Corporation Tax via iXBRL/CT600, is not yet built, so your accountant still files those. We would rather be clear about that than over-promise.
Can I move my existing books in?+
Yes. Revenue imports from Xero, QuickBooks and Sage — the guided importer in Settings brings your chart of accounts, contacts and opening balances across. It is designed so a new signup can be up and running quickly rather than spending a weekend on setup.
Is there a free trial?+
Yes — each paid plan begins with a 14-day free trial, no card required. You can invite your accountant during the trial so they can look before you commit.
