On the road
Who's Nearby and Smoke Signals
Half the value of a week on the road is knowing who else is in town. Who's Nearby shows the members checked in within ten miles — and only if you have both opted in.

Questions
How close is "nearby"?+
Ten miles. Anyone opted in within that radius appears on your list, with a rounded distance — under a mile just reads "nearby".
Can people see exactly where I am?+
No. Other members see an area label and a rough distance, and nobody but you can read your own check-in. RepBud does take one coarse location reading to work that out, so "an area" is the right description for it, not "an address".
Do I appear automatically?+
No. Nothing shows until you turn the switch on, and it only works while the Reserve lists you — a filled-in profile with Let agents and businesses find me switched on. You choose whether it is everyone nearby, selected people only, or a saved group.
Can a stranger message me?+
No. Somebody you are not connected to has to send a connection request, and you accept or decline it. Being visible is not being contactable.
What is a Smoke Signal?+
A short ping to members within ten miles — where you are, or what you are heading to. Broadcast, or tagged to people you pick, and limited to one an hour.
Can I join any Smoke Signal I see?+
You can join one you were tagged in — that is where the Join button appears. A broadcast is there to read; walk over rather than accept.
Can I turn all of it off?+
Yes. Turn the switch off and your check-in is deleted, so you are not on the list at all. Left alone, a check-in expires within seven days anyway.
Which plans include it?+
All of them, Economy included — Who's Nearby and Smoke Signals are free for reps, DMCs, Ground Handlers, RepBuddies, Reporters and RepBud Ready accounts. What they need is a profile the Reserve can list: your name, a real company and a confirmed account.
RepBud is designed to assist, not replace, your professional judgement.
