A random team picker wheel
Each person spins once and joins the team the wheel lands on. Spinning in front of the group shows the teams were chosen at random, which avoids the awkwardness of picking sides. This wheel starts with four teams; add or remove teams to match your group.

What is on this wheel
Your wheel opens as “Team picker” with these 4 wedges. A higher weight means a bigger wedge and a proportionally higher chance; rename, add or remove any of them.
- Team A
- Team B
- Team C
- Team D
Tips
- Decide the team size first: with twelve people and four teams, remove a team’s wedge once it has three members so the teams stay even.
- Rename the wedges to team colours or table numbers so people know where to go straight away.
- For a quiz or hackathon, spin for the team captains first, then spin for the rest.
- Keep the winner log open: it records who landed on which team, in order.
Questions
How do I keep the teams the same size?
When a team has enough people, remove its wedge and keep spinning for the people left. The wheel resizes the remaining wedges straight away.
Can I put the names on the wheel instead?
Yes. Paste your list, one name per line, and spin to pick people one at a time. Remove each person after they are picked and assign them to teams in turn.
Is the team picker random?
Yes. Each spin uses the browser’s cryptographically secure random source, and wedges with equal weight have an equal chance.
