A random name picker wheel for your classroom
Paste your class list onto the wheel, spin it on the board and it stops on one student at random. Take that name off and spin again, and the wheel works through the class without picking the same student twice. The wheel on this page uses numbered sample students; yours opens empty, ready for your own list.
Try this wheel
These numbered entries show how the draw works. Your own wheel opens as “Class name picker”, ready for your list or a live QR draw.
A free RepBud account runs your own wheel. No card needed; guests join without an account or app.
What the demonstration shows
Your own wheel opens empty as “Class name picker”. Add names by typing, pasting a list or uploading a CSV or Excel file, or go live and let people join by QR code.

Tips
- Use first names only, or initials, on a wheel the class can see. There is no need to put surnames or other details on screen.
- Save one draw per class, so each group opens with its own list the next lesson.
- Remove each name after it is picked so the same student is not chosen twice in a row, then add everyone back at the start of the next activity.
- Tell the class before you spin what the chosen student will do, so the wheel feels like a fair turn rather than a surprise.
Questions
How do I add my class list quickly?
Paste the names, one per line, or upload a CSV or Excel file. The file is read in your browser and the names save with your draw to your RepBud account.
Can I stop the same student being picked again?
Yes. After each spin you can remove the student from the wheel and spin again for the next name. The winner log keeps a timestamped record of who was picked.
Do students need an account?
No. Only the teacher needs a free RepBud account to run the wheel. Students just watch the board.
Is the pick random?
Yes. Each spin uses the browser’s cryptographically secure random source, and with equal weights each name has the same chance.
